 12.03.2009   +++   Grammy Nominations!!

grammy_logo.gif

It’s that time of year again..

Big congratulations to our long time friends Jason Mraz and the Beastie Boys on their noms this year! The Beastie Boys nom caught us all a little off guard since the record hasn’t actually come out yet, and I gotta say - Too Many Rappers is a great track but the rest of the record. HOT DAMN. Whenever that bad boy comes out, it’s gonna be a BIG record we predict. At least we’ll be stoked to finally get to play it in the studio.

Jason Mraz - Make It Mine - Best Male Vocal Pop Performance
Jason Mraz & Colbie Caillat - Lucky - Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals
Beastie Boys & Nas - Too Many Rappers - Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group

And of course a big congrats to our friends over at Dangerbird on the Silversun Pickups Best New Artist nomination, and good ol’ Dave Gottlieb on the two MGMT nominations for Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocals.

And lastly a big congrats to one of SAM’s newest clients, The Lonely Island. Best Rap/Sung Collaboration… Crazy, right?

The Lonely Island & T-Pain - I’m On A Boat - Best Rap/Sung Collaboration

There’s some stiff competition this year in all of these categories, but you know who we’ll be pulling for!

 07.11.2007   +++   new site. new story.

if you are looking at this news item, it means you are looking at our new site! it was time for a bit of an overhaul, as we have simply grown out of the old “simple” site that preceeded this one. Now, I’m sure there are bugs or glitches. Actually, if you find any, it’s uhm.. because of your browser. yeah, that’s it. it’s not us, it’s you. I promise.

with this new site, we are also launching a bold new phase for the uprising. one in which growth is the primary objective.. growth of the company, growth of the client base, and the ever evolving artistic growth we strive for with each new project.

look, we’re all about doing great work for our clients, having fun while we’re doing it, and making things look pretty. pretty simple. our goal in the years to come is to do that on an ever increasing scale, to reach and touch as many people as we can with these here pixels and colors.

take a look around, check out what we’ve been up to, and bookmark us. we’re constantly adding new projects to the database, with photo and motion projects being next on the list. now it’s even easier to click around and explore.

most recent projects? well..

• The Section Quartet - TSQ Website (a co-op project with Billbonk Webdesign, currently in development), TSQ MySpace Page, Fuzzbox album packaging, and all kinds of other odds and ends for their upcoming release on Decca.

• Hooves - Remember that “special footwear project” we mentioned awhile back? Well, Jeff is working with Gravis Footwear to design, develop, and manage a new footwear brand with some suprises up it’s sleeve - dope hi-tops for the rock & metal markets.. Check out the simple Hooves Website we developed for more info on that.

• Mirrorball - Darren is still killing it over at Mirrorball doing art direction for their client base (which includes Pepsi, Heineken, Mountain Dew, Dos Equis, and others). but in more special news, is now a proud father of Forrest Butch Rufus Craig (who, being able to design immediately after popping out of the womb, is now on staff full time).

• Silva Artist Management - Jeff just finished an absolutely amazing and fulfilling 2-year tenure over at SAM, leaving to give more focus to the uprising. He is also developing Color Theory Consulting, a consultant service specializing in the development and logistics of music merchandise opportunities in the tour, retail, and special project licensing areas for bands, labels, etc.

• Various Others - not to discount any of these clients by not giving them their own section, we’d just be here for days. We’re still working with Chris Shiflet on Jackson United packaging and materials for their upcoming release.. RCEG & Slaymaker Hill for their upcoming release.. Strangler for their upcoming release.. tons of band merch.. and of course a bunch of other irons in the fire that we can’t discuss yet.

Thanks, as always, to everyone who’s supported us (and continues to support us) along the way. Without the love, respect, and dedication of everyone who’s been invoived (both directly and indirectly), we surely would not be where we are today. MUUUAH. ok. we love you. bye bye.

 04.15.2007   +++   new additions.

added a few new projects to the site.. new Jason Mraz, QOTSA, Margaret Cho, Fergie, and Black Eyed Peas merch designs. we’ve also added some RCEG Sampler cover comps we did a little while back for shits and giggles.

also, looks like we may be changing the format of the site.. it feels like we’ve outgrown this current one a bit, and we’re considering switching over to a blog-based site. Let’s face it - everyone wants new content straight to the vein these days, rather than periodically updated sites, so why not give the people what they want? more new content.. quicker.. in a format that loads faster.. and is more flexible for our rapidly growing project portfolio. seems like the right move to me.

and keep an eye out for some of our upcomming projects / releases: a GREAT new The Section Quartet cover record coming out in August on Decca / Universal. Really great string quartet covers of Bowie, Radiohead, The Strokes, Muse, QOTSA, and a bunch of other rock bands. we’re stoked for this one! And there will be a new Jackson United record coming from our buddy Chris Shiflet soon - most likely 2008, but we’re excited about this one too so couldn’t hold back.
